Dr. Tomasz Wypych from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Poland, will talk about "A Microbiota-Derived Bile Acid Reprograms Alveolar Macrophages to Control Lung Inflammation".

About Dr. Wypych:

Dr. Wypych's current research aims to unravel bidirectional interactions between the commensal microbiota and the host, which could be harnessed to treat inflammatory diseases. On the microbial site, we focus on identifying immunomodulatory metabolites active in the skin, lungs and brain, and tailoring them toward the formulation of therapeutics against inflammatory conditions (e.g. atopic dermatitis, respiratory infections, asthma, neuroinflammation). On the host site, we dissect IgA-bacteria interactions that promote colonization of bacterial strains protective against asthma. Deploying this new knowledge, we aim to design antibody or probiotic-based approaches to prevent the development of asthma.
